Sue Friedman Recognized as 2009 Leader’s Leader Award

LCAA honored Sue Friedman, LC Class of 2000 and President and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association - Central and Western Virginia Chapter, as the 2009 Leader’s Leader. Sue was recognized for her work with the League of Women Voters, her service as chair of the Albemarle County School Board, her strong support of the Leadership Charlottesville program through the Leadership Charlottesville Development Council, and her involvement with the “I Have a Dream Foundation.”

2005 Leader’s Leader Jeff Gaffney has this to say about Sue, “When you are involved with an issue that needs energy and enthusiasm and you meet Sue, you know you are in the right hands.” Albemarle County School Superintendent Dr. Pam Moran states that “Sue has the courage to make tough decisions, confidence that what she does is the right thing to do for the people she serves and the creativity to innovate in collaboration with others.”

Criteria for Selection

The Leader’s Leader is a Leadership Charlottesville graduate who has demonstrated initiative, vision, and responsibility, investing their time and efforts to contribute to the community, the Leadership Charlottesville program, and/or the Alumni Association. Leadership Charlottesville is a unique, innovative Chamber program designed to help the community meet its need for active participation of informed, dedicated community leaders. Leadership Charlottesville demonstrates the Chamber’s efforts to help build better bridges of understanding and cooperation that are essential as we work to build a better future for our businesses, our family and our neighbors.
